The Basics of Poker
The game of poker is played with a number of different betting methods. Players place chips on the table before the cards are dealt out. This money, known as the “blinds,” is usually a single red or black chip. The blinds rotate from player to player with each new deal. The betting process revolves around the dealer button, or the “buck,” which indicates a nominal dealer. A card is dealt to each player clockwise around the poker table.
The number of players depends on the size of the table and the number of players. A game is played when there are at least seven players. Each player must purchase a set amount of chips. Each chip has a different value. The lowest-valued chip is the white one. The highest-valued chip is the red one. A blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds. When a player “buys in” to a game, they purchase one of the available chips. Each player buys in for the same amount.
The first step in poker is to purchase poker chips. For a game with seven players, the dealer should supply chips. A white chip is the lowest-valued, while a red chip is worth five whites. A blue chip is worth ten or twenty or thirty whites. A red chip is worth two, four, or five blacks. When players buy in, they purchase one of the chips that represents their starting amount. Most players buy in for the same amount, which allows them to bet as much as they want.
